Fabergé Gatherings
(2026-2027)
  • April 2026 A small cadre of Fabergé researcher viewed the original Marjorie Merriweather Post Fabergé Collection and visited the research library at Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens, Washington (DC). Later in the week, we toured the Lillian Thomas Pratt Fabergé Collection and spent time in the Margaret R. and Robert M. Freeman Library at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) in Richmond, Virginia. Knowledgeable docents led the museum tours and as special guests we learned about Fabergé resources available for research in both libraries. Freeman Library now has ca. 50 films, VHS and DVD Fabergé audio-visuals from 1971 to the present donated by Christel L. McCanless since 2019. Thirty duplicates were donated to the Hillwood Library during our visit.

The McFerrin Collection topics include conservation techniques, workshops and workmasters, how to recognize a Fauxbergé piece, and the well-known Fabergé Imperial Eggs. Summary shared by Timothy Adams (USA).
  • April 2027 (tentative date) Join scholars, collectors, dealers, and Fabergé enthusiasts for a Fabergé Symposium to be held at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Texas. A fascinating selection from the 600 objects in the Artie and Dorothy McFerrin Fabergé and Russian Collection is currently on view at the Houston museum, and on a video. Timothy Adams, a frequent Fabergé Research Newsletter contributor, is eager to hear from anyone with ideas for research presentations during the symposium.

Russian Fabergé Research Publications
(50 Page Bibliographic Guide)

A dedicated Faberge researcher and Fabergé Research Newsletter contributor has kindly shared a recommended bibliographic guide prepared in 2021 by the Krasnodar Regional Universal Library named after A.S. Pushkin to honor the 175th Anniversary of the birth of Carl Fabergé (1846-1920). We thank him for his generosity and suggest the 2021 bibliographic guide published in Russian here, and a similar English bibliography (1930-2025) on the Fabergé Research Website together for the first time showcase in full the voluminous literature for the Fabergé firm and their creations before 1918 when the original jewelry firm was closed. Fabergé objects have been scattered throughout the world in the last 100+ years in museums and private Fabergé collections.
